Founding Editor- Awfully Political

Kearsey launched Awfully Political in response to a growing media landscape where public discourse is increasingly driven by algorithmic outrage, influencer culture, and bad-faith political commentary. The publication was created to counter that trend with evidence-based analysis, investigative commentary, and reporting grounded in primary-source research.

Stanford writes on political messaging, democratic institutions, and public policy in Canada and the United States, focusing on how media narratives, economic power, and political strategy shape modern public debate.

Through Awfully Political, Stanford focuses on bringing context, accountability, and rigorous analysis back into political discussion- prioritizing facts over viral narratives and substance over spectacle.

AWFULLY POLITICAL was built on one premise: in an era saturated with noise, facts still matter.

Facts don’t flinch. Voices don’t bow.

AWFULLY POLITICAL is an independent publication and is not affiliated with any political party, campaign, or advocacy organization.

In the interest of transparency, its founder, Kearsey Stanford, identifies politically as a social democrat and has historically found his views align most closely with social-democratic traditions in Canadian politics.

However, AWFULLY POLITICAL operates with full editorial independence and is committed to evidence- based analysis, rigorous scrutiny of all political actors, and reporting grounded in verifiable sources.

INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM FOR A NOISY ERA.
